Look What I Drew! 12/29/2014

That new Spider-Woman costume is awesome.

The first pose came out stiff but what do you expect when you draw something quickly during a work break.

Gotta keep working on figure drawing, though.

Look What I Drew! 12/25/2014

A Thor commission, all done.

I had a lot of fun making this! I'm glad to finally get a commission, too, since the fishes aren't exactly biting at the moment.
I want coffee now.

Look What I Drew! 12/22/2014

Couple of sketches done over at Google+.

Oi, this year has been unbearable. I'm glad it's almost over because I need 2015 to begin on a good mark. I am grateful that I'm working, have a roof over my head, and food on the table, but I really want next year to be the beginning of my professional art career. I know I won't be a millionaire from it but I'd at least like to make some profit.

It has to be a year of putting myself out there. A lot.

It also means I have to stop being so damn lazy. I spend way too much time thinking about how I should be working and not actually doing. So, that's the end of the laziness: I need to work on my comic while I still have outlets available (especially since Inkblazers is done for), and imma promote like a sumbitch. It may get irritating but, hey: I want to be successful, and that may take some pains before the fruit ripens.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys.

Look What I Drew! 12/19/2014

So I've been reading Boku no Hero Academia and it's very good. With the gap that Naruto left behind after the series ended, it looks like BnHA could be the one to fill it. I highly recommend checking it out!

I've been doing requests for fun. I tried $5 commissions but nobody bit... Apparently 5 bucks is too much for people nowadays.

Either that, or I'm just a shit artist.

Look What I Drew! 11/05/2014

Thank you, Naruto!

I can't believe it's finally over. I'm still waiting on the last chapters to come out, but man...15 years of Naruto. I remember reading the manga in Shonen Jump first, then onto zip files I had to download (you youngins don't know squat about the early internet). Things got easier over the years, and so many sites popped up that it made it very easy to read the manga. Then I find out a month ago that the manga ends in November, and wow...so many memories. From playing the fighting games on Gamecube to getting statues and figurines at conventions, this series has been with me for so long and I won't lie that I'm pretty emotional about it.

Here I am, waiting for the last two chapters to come out. Here I am, on pins and needles, waiting for a part of my life to come to an end.

...I feel like I have to do a cosplay, now.

Look What I Drew! 10/30/2014

The Naruto piece is finally finished!

Man, did that take a while.

So I was trying out new ways to color and I'm still not satisfied with the techniques I've used. I'll figure out something one day but I'm happy with how this piece came out. Now I've got time to work on other projects!

Tomorrow's Halloween and I'm suped as hell! My costume is gonna be awesome...I may even post a photo of it.

Oh yeah.

Look What I Drew! 10/27/2014

Finished a commission today!

Sorry for the lack of updates: I've been working on this piece and I still need to finish my Naruto/Sasuke drawing. I really want to work on other things, especially SOMA, but with work and other things getting in the way I haven't had much time. I've got free time this week and I plan on getting some work done and this was a step in the right direction.

Anyone catch Hell in a Cell last night? Pretty good event: AJ Lee and Paige was a good match, plus they're both so very hot...but I digress. I'm heated that Cena won, like he needed another victory...you just know he's going to beat Lesnar. Ugh. Having Rollins win was great! I love that dude. In my older age I've realized that I'm siding with the heels more. Nothing against Ambrose, I just don't dig the crazy guy persona.

That ending, though. Bray Wyatt coming back to interfere in the match, and in such a way! The Sistet Abigail hologram was nuts. and Bray's entrance was extremely creepy. I can't wait to see his feud with Ambrose after this, and then Rollins/Orton. Guess we'll see how things turn out tonight on RAW.

Look What I Drew Today! 10/02/2014

Naruto is finally colored! It must have been the lack of sleep earlier because my art game jumped a level with this drawing, I swear.

To be honest, this piece has given me a confidence boost in regards to selling my artwork at conventions. I'm very happy with how it came out! Coloring is usually the least favorite part of the art process for me since I never considered myself particularly good at it. I feel much more optimistic about it now, and I can't wait to work on more pieces and see how they turn out. Now all I need is for a convention to come around so I can try to get into an artist's alley.

Look What I Drew! 09/19/2014

My Naruto project!

I wasn't even in the mood to work yesterday; I was dead tired from having to wake up early. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with the results of my exhaustion! Inks for both pieces will be coming shortly, then there's the task of merging the two and coloring it all in. That's gonna be fun.

I also started working on SOMA again! I checked the last time it was updated: Over a year! I couldn't believe it has been that long...it took me a minute to get into the groove but with a bit of planning I'll be kicking ass in no time.

Now, I really want some coffee.

Look What I Drew! 09/17/2014

Anbu Kakashi in greyscale.

So things have been going well lately. I'm learning not to stress so much over things, and I've realized that I don't really care much for Queen's Quartz anymore. I miss Short Order Mobile Action way too much and I'm going back to it. If the mood hits me I'll return to QQ, but it's not terribly important to me at the moment.

I came to this conclusion after posting the preview pages and not really getting much of a response from them. I've also been thinking about my first comic and the liberties it gave me, story and art-wise, so it was an easy decision to go back to SOMA. Of course, this leaves me with a lot of open spaces since SOMA is an ongoing comic and I post about two pages every week so I can work on other pieces.

I also think that being stressed out with other things in my life kinda soured QQ for me. Life's getting better and I've realized that my negativity was really affecting every aspect of it. It was taking away the happiness I felt when I was drawing and I wasn't focusing on that. Instead, I was too busy wondering why my art wasn't more popular, or how others were getting ahead and judging them for it. I can't do that anymore; I won't. It's not fair to me and my art.

Anyway, I've got an awesome idea or a Naruto fanart and I'm gonna get started on it tomorrow. Peace!

Look What I Drew! 09/02/2014

I can't believe I forgot to post this.

It was day 6 of the Art Jam: bounty hunters. I knew I wanted to do an anime character so I decided to go with Yoko from Gurren Lagann. The original piece was terrible: a rushed traditional piece where the proportions and body type were way off. I wanted to redo it and this is the final result which I'm quite happy with.

I've been drawing somewhat recently, but definitely not how I should be. I think I burned out and the stress of trying to finish Queen's Quartz made me shy away from it. I know it's not an acceptable reason to stop working, especially since that would never fly professionaly, but it's what happened and I'm working through it.

In the meantime I've been working on sketches here and there, trying to get back into the groove. I missed my deadline for QQ but I'll still be working on it. I at least owe everyone that much.

Look What I Drew! 08/27/2014

Edward Elric, from Fullmetal Alchemist! (Google + request)

Sorry for being inactive as of late: I've been trying to balance work and drawing. It's hectic. I'm still working on Queen's Quartz but it's going much slower than I thought. I didn't meet the deadline I set for myself, so at this point I may just release the pages individually so everyone has something to read and hopefully get excited about. I think I need people to get excited about it so I feel like I'm not wasting my time or something.

Look What I Drew! 08/19/2014

Day 7 of the Art Jam: April O'Neil from TMNT. Just the inks for now; I may color it in soon.

Queen's Quartz is moving along nicely, but still slow for my tastes. I've got 3 rough pages finished as of today...I should be using my tablet to do more of them. I'm gonna. I don't even know why I brought it up.

I'll be going to NY Comic Con on Thursday only, so if anyone is heading there lemme know!

Look What I Drew! 08/07/2014

Art Jam, Day 4: Skeletor (Masters of the Universe)

This was one pretty fun. Only 2 more left and that's the end of the Art Jam for August!

Uhhhhh let's see...I worked on a new page for Queen's Quartz. I'll post up a preview soon, but I gotta get my work drive up if I wanna be at least halfway finished. I also tried using a different anatomy method: the bean. I've seen it used before but I never really liked it because I wasn't sure how to define the body from it, but I decided to really study this video by the artist Stan Prokopenko and it clicked. It's a very good method especially when you're working different angles of the body. I incorporated it with the latest page and I can already see a difference in anatomy.

What methods do you other artists use? Lemme know in the comments!

Look What I Drew! 08/06/2014

Art Jam, Day 4: Sawyer from LOST.

I didn't care much for this subject. I'd much rather stick with cartoons/movies/comics, but tv shows? Eh. It always runs the risk of being something you never watched, or you hated. This fell right into that category. I never watched Lost, never cared to, and honestly it took some effort to get through this one.

The next day'll be better. Truth be told, I'm a day behind, but I'll get to it tomorrow...I'm so tired.

Anybody got a show they don't care about, and why?

Look What I Drew! 08/04/2014

Art Jam, day 3: Dragon's Lair.

I remember this game when it was on laserdisc! I always wanted to play it because it was so unusual for a game to basically be a cartoon, but it as also very expensive so bun all that.

Today's art jam subject is pretty lame: It's anything from the show Lost, which I never got into. I hate subjects like this. I'd rather it stays with movies, comics, games, or cartoons; I rarely like doing tv shows. I'll power through it but I have no good ideas for it so whatever.

I'm on page 10 of Queen's Quartz! I should get up to 13-14 by the end of the week...I gotta tell ya, it's hard work doing all of this on my own. I probably shouldn't have signed up for this art jam but it'll keep my art work flowing and not let me get lazy.

Look What I Drew! 08/02/2014

Art Jam, Day 2: Usagi Yojimbo. I had the action figure of him when I was a kid and the Ninja Turtle toys were all the rage.

I have a commission due, more art jam subjects, and Queen's Quartz, so my schedule is full this week. Feels pretty good to be an artist right now!

Look What I Drew! 07/31/2014

Fina doesn't like to be touched, or laughed at. You'll understand why soon.

So here's the subjects for the Art Jam:
day 1_Guardians of the Galaxy
day 2_Usagi Yojimbo
day 3_Don Bluth's Dragon's Lair or Space Ace
day 4_LOST
day 5_Masters of The Universe
day 6_Bounty Hunters
day 7_April O'neil

Day 1 is already done and I've got the idea for Yojimbo in my head. Hopefully it'll transfer well to paper - er, screen - but I can't wait to show you guys!

Any ideas for another art jam? Leave comments and lemme know wussuuuup...maybe I'll include them when it's my turn to choose!

Look What I Drew! 07/28/2014

Another Queen's Quartz update! This time, it's the main character Serafina. Isn't she cute?

So, comic's coming along nicely and all that. I've got a good few days to work on it this week, so with any luck I can be about halfway through with the chapter by next week. Other than that, I have the Art Jam and that's about it!

Comic Con ended and there was some juicy tidbits going on. Mad Max: Fury Road was probably the biggest thing for me, especially since I couldn't care less about Batman V. Superman and I know Avengers is gonna be awesome. Anyway, Mad Max looks incredible! It's gonna be intense. and I'm glad there was no obvious CG or wires or anything like that: just straight up action and stunts...I'm so excited.

I'm waiting for the new Interstellar trailer; I heard it blew everyone away.

Look What I Drew! 07/28/2014

Preview of the Art Jam! The first subject is a character from Galaxy of the Guardians, so I chose Star Lord when I'm sure everyone else would do Rocket Raccoon. I like RR, but you can't deny Star Lord's helmet is badass.

The subjects will be coming through daily, though I'll more than likely update them the day of. I now I've neglected this blog for a couple of days but that'll change so bear with me!

Also, some fanboy against the new Batgirl design sent me his unprovoked opinion and I'm sitting here wondering why people feel the need to do that. I didn't ask for his opinion and honestly couldn't care less about it. I didn't open up a forum to speak about it: I on'y uploaded the drawing to show people. I'm all for discussing subjects, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to give it to me when I never wanted it? You're a dick, in my opinion, and this is the problem with comic fans: everyone thinks their opinion needs to be heard and don't care who gets to hear it. It's a problem with the internet, really, but it's been going on with comic fan for the longest time.

People, you read comics. They can change your world. your views, inspire you and make you feel things for characters who don't even exist, but if you decide to argue with other fans who appreciate changes when they had no intention to then you're not being a proper fan. Get your head out of your asses.

Look What I Drew! 07/23/2014

Another preview for Queen's Quartz! I'm about finished with a very awesome splash page, and I would've posted it but I really want it to be a surprise for you all. I'm very proud of it.

Also, Happy Batman Day! I managed to get my butt to the nearest comic shops and picked up Death of the Family, which was amazing. A very gripping story, and there's a twist in it near the end that had my eyes wide in shock. All in all, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have been killing it on their Batman run.

Oh, and there's an art jam coming up so expect an influx of drawings soon. I'm thinking of going monochromatic with the subjects this time around...

Look What I Drew! 07/16/2014

The new Thor! I'm excited for the change: I've already read the gripes of fanboys and honestly, I'm so tired of them. We've already Beta Ray Bill and Throg, a friggin' frog, but a woman being the God of Thunder is suddenly, what, a mockery? Unacceptable?

I'm just so done with it.

It's one more step to equality, and regardless of whether male fans like it or not, it's gonna happen, and I for one am happy about that. On a side note: I love that she's not oversexualized. She looks badass, like Thor would and should be.

October can't come soon enough!

Look What I Drew! 07/14/2014

Doing some quickie sketch requests on Google+!

Nothing much going on, lately. Still working on Queen's Quartz, and I've been going to actual work. I hate work. I wanna get paid to draw already.

Friday, July 11, 2014

Look What I Drew! 07/11/2014

That new Batgirl costume is so cool, I just had to draw it.

Queen's Quartz is coming along, everyone! I've got 5 pages already drawn and about 4 thumbnail sketches ready to go. It's gotta be the best my art has ever been, you guys...I'm pretty proud right now.

I'm thinking of uploading the first five pages, but I might just wait until I have ten so there's more to read. We'll see what happens, but for now I'll keep posting previews of pages and continue working.

Speaking of work, I have to get up really early tomorrow and I'm not excited about that. I really gotta find a way to make money by drawing.

Look What I Drew!

A drawing I did for Jason Momoa, the badass actor who played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones. There was a screening in New York for his new film, Road to Paloma...

...Oh, and I gave it to him. He said it was fucking awesome and that made my entire year.

Look What I Drew! 07/04/2014

A preview of a new page from Queen's Quartz!

I hope everyone had a good Independence Day. I spent mine at work, which wasn't too bad, but I've been used to having this day off and going to a family bbq so this was an unwanted change. I could've had a beer and a hamburger. damnit.

Anyhoo, my birthday's in two days and I plan on partying hard for the 3-0. I mean, let's face it: it's all downhill from here.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Look What I Drew! 07/01/2014

The first page of Queen's Quartz is up!

Okay, this was actually done a couple of days ago but I was having issues uploading on my phone so it took me a bit to get it on here. I have 3 pages set up and the second one is almost finished (tones are a pain in the ass), but it's all coming together very nicely! I need to get some more thumbnails done and I can definitely do 2 rough pages a day if I keep this pace going.

In other news, I saw Transformers: Age of Extinction. It was...craziness. I knew going into it that the story would be terrible - it is a Michael Bay film, after all - but damned if it didn't keep me entertained. Mark Wahlberg was actually pretty decent in this: funny, held his own in the action scenes but they didn't make him to be this super badass or anything. The only area that took me out of the movie was that he was way too jacked for an inventor, otherwise I was all in.

If you loved the first 3, you'll love this one. If not...it's a movie about giant robots: quit taking it seriously.

I'm going to end this post with a rant: The other day a fellow artist complained that getting comments/feedback such as "Your art looks like (insert another artist here)!" wasn't good because it made them feel that their art wasn't original.

I'm sorry, but here's where I take slight offense: nobody's art is original. Unique, sure, but every artist borrows from another so you'll never be truly original. To think that you are seems arrogant, personally. I understand that an artist has to feel that they're doing something no one's ever seen, and that can happen in how you approach the subject. You can tell the same story from a different perspective, you know?

In any case. it irked me to read this, then have people agree with the notion. I know that I've borrowed from others and made something that makes my style unique, and I feel that should be encouraged more than telling others they're special snowflakes.

Your guys's thoughts? Leave comments!

Look What I Drew! 06/25/2014

I know I said I'd have a page or two done next time I posted, but I'm still working.

The first pages of Queen's Quartz are all sketched up! I've already started the first page and it's inked up. I should have these three done by the end of the week...

...I'm pretty excited about this comic, you guys.

In other news, I have no video games to play. I'm thinking of going back to Skyrim, since it's my go-to whenever I need a fix. We'll see what happens, but in the meantime I probably shouldn't let anything get in the way of my comic work :p

Look What I Drew! 06/21/2014

The old sketch of Serafina, all finalized with the colors and the inking and the digital art and all.

Script is like 90% done! I'm in NYC now so I can't work on it, but by the next time I post I'll have the first pages of the comic started.

GET HYPED.

Look What I Drew! 06/18/2014

Another drawing of Puck, from the upcoming comic Queen's Quartz. He looks like he's arguing with someone, which he'll probably be doing a lot of.

The script is underway! I've written about 5 pages, and it's coming together quite nicely. The world I'm making is starting to connect, and even though it's a one shot I want to showcase the 4 leads so everyone has an idea of how they'll interact. So far, I have Fina and Puck written, and it's hilarious.

I can't wait to work on the comic~

Look What I Drew! 06/16/2014

Two more shots of Levin and Serafina. I drew Levin pretty damn adorable and I love the way he came out, and I made Fina a little more cartoonish than her original drawing.

Anyway, here's the plot synopsis to Queen's Quartz:

The Queen's Quartz - the rarest gem, said to be worth untold riches, yet none know of its whereabouts. It's said that it wields a terrible curse - it lays a heavy burden upon the one who holds it. To Serafina, it's all myth and old stories, and she sets out to find the Queen's Quartz to claim its unimaginable reward. When she gets a lead on the gem, however, she encounters a creature lost to time: an elven boy named Levin. Elves, however, have been extinct for centuries, since their last war with humankind.

Why is Levin still alive? Why is the Queen's Quartz so well hidden, and does it truly hold such a mysterious power? Will Serafina find it, and what will she lose on the road to her reward?

Sound good? I guess we'll see!

Look What I Drew! 06/12/2014

Jacob, the Knight

The Lone Elf, Levin

The last member's of the Queen's Quartz crew: Jacob, the Knight and the lone elf, Levin.

Jacob is a very honorable man, his sword skills are well recognized...but he's dumb as bricks. He's serious, usually because he doesn't get jokes or sarcasm. Levin is a peculiar character: Elves are extinct in the world of Queen's Quartz, after having battled humans for so long. Levin still being alive is unusual, and will become the center focus of the story.

Speaking of the story: I've been coming up with how it begins and how long the one shot will be, which means I'll be hammering out the first draft shortly. I think you all will enjoy it~

Look What I Drew! 06/11/2014

The next character sketch for Queen's Quartz: Puck the surly wizard. He's fond of drink and his pipe, and behind his eyepatch is a vortex that absorbs energy around him. It makes him considerably strong, which he considers a hassle and chooses to spend most of his time drunk.

I already love him.

Monday, June 9, 2014

Look What I Drew! 06/09/2014

I'm making a new comic! It's a fantasy story: Queen's Quartz, and it's a story I've always wanted to do - well, I've always wanted to do a fantasy story, but this one still needs to be fleshed out. Anyway, this is the OC: Serafina, a rogue who gets caught up looking for the Queen's Quartz, a gem that's worth many kingdoms but holds a terrible secret.

Also, I'm so used to drawing men as my main characters that it was refreshing to have a female lead in this story. I modeled her after my best friend, who is a person of color (that seems to be the phrase to use). It's gonna be a fun story, and I'm getting to work on it as soon as possible.

Expect a one shot comic in the next month or so ;D

Look What I Drew! 06/05/2014

I do love me some One-punch Man.

So I feel like writing a fantasy comic.  I love swords and sorcery, the outfits are always so awesome and I just always wanted to write one, so I think I'm gonna do it. I know I haven't worked on my first comic in a while, but I'll get there.

Anime NEXT is this weekend and I'm gonna go for a day. I miss conventions and this is probably going to be the only one I'll attend this year since Otakon is too expensive and not enough of my friends can go. It sucks because I didn't go last year and I really, really miss it. There isn't anything else like going to a con and seeing people who love what you do having a great time.

Next year, for sure: I'll go.

Brainiac

Wrapped up a one day art jam today! The subject was any villain from Superman's rogues gallery, and naturally I chose Braniac. He's without a doubt the better villain than Lex Luthor or Zod.

I'm getting better with the pen on my tablet and am using it with every new piece I post. It's seriously awesome to be able to draw without the clutter of tools or to even get up from my bed...and I'm aware of how lazy that sounds, but come on - if you didn't have to get out of bed, would you?

Look What I Drew! 05/28/2014

Quick art request for a pal on Google +: Lelouch from Code Geass.

Been listening to a lot of old JROCK albums lately, since I'm working early Saturday mornings each week. I decided to put on Hyde's Faith album and man, I loved the shit out of it. I feel like it's been forever since JROCK was a big part of my life, even though it's only been a few years since all the good bands disbanded. There's only about 5 bands I follow anymore, and just barely. Kinda sad, but that's a sign of the times, I guess.

My tablet pen's battery died so I can't work on anything digital unless I hit the desktop again which frankly is a hassle. It takes AAAA batteries so I'll have to get a rechargeable one... I'm not wasting  my time buying a butt load of batteries for one tiny pen.

Oooh, I wanna see X-Men: Days of Future Past. I know it deviates from the comics but dammit, I wanna check it out.

Look What I Drew! 05/22/2014

The trailer for Big Hero 6 came out and it looks pre-tay, pre-tay, pre-tay... Pretty good.

I can't wait to see what Disney does with the series.

The tattoo is healing nicely, and it should be perfectly fine by Saturday. It came out so great~

Look What I Drew! 05/21/2014

A Batman tattoo idea I had that I got inked up today! Man, it was 2 hours of irritating pain, and some parts were worse than others...it got to the point where I was just ready to be done and go home. So glad I got it done, though.

Sketchin' on my new tablet!

I managed to install Manga Studio and get to work. The pen that's supported by the Dell Venue 8 is alright: the pen pressure leaves much to be desired, as it's not a Wacom and Manga Studio doesn't recognize the pen like it should, but it looks like it's doing a very good job nonetheless.

Can't wait to put more pieces out!

Look What I Drew Today! 05/18/2014

Apparently Sailor Moon is still very, very popular. The feedback on this piece has been pretty positive, so it's going to get the full color treatment. I do have to fix her left eye but other than that it's a win!
