Art Jam, Day 6 - Macho Man Randy Savage
OOOOOOOOOH YEAAAAAAH!

I knew exactly what I wanted to draw for this subject and I'm so glad I did it.

Why is he holding a creamer cup, you ask? Well here you go, for reference:
God, I miss that man.

Shikamaru (Naruto)
I'm really getting the hang of coloring! Only 2 more days of the Art Jam left...this took a lot longer than I thought.

Oh, and I bought my new laptop. Can't wait to start working from bed again!

Look What I Drew! 03/09/2015

Marceline the Vampire Queen
Day 4 is really late! As a matter of fact, the art jam is over but nobody ever finishes on time so I'll have my pieces up as soon as I can. Real work gets in the way of fun work...

So I've been thinking a lot about buying a refurbished laptop. I have the money at the moment and I definitely need a laptop, I just don't know if I should spend the money just because I have it. It really wouldn't cost much (about $150) but I feel like I should be an adult and save my money...

...but I'll definitely need a laptop when I go to Interventioncon.

Ok, maybe not definitely, but it would help my productivity to have a computer that's fast enough to work on. I dunno, I'm still thinking about it but I'm leaning towards yes.

La Muerte (The Book of Life)
Oh my word did I have fun drawing this piece! It was one of those rare moments when you have an idea and it comes out better than what you originally thought. I'm leveling up like crazy this art jam!

No news today. It's been snowing and raining and I've got work tomorrow so I may not be able to get the day 4 drawing out...

Look What I Drew! 03/02/2015

Blake Belladonna.
Day 2 of the art jam: complete!

I have to admit, I've only watched one episode of RWBY, and I didn't even finish it because I got up to eat and completely forgot about it. That being said, I really like the designs of the characters and I figured everyone would do Ruby Rose so I opted to draw one of the other main characters. I also went through about 3 poses before I fell on this one...poses can be pretty damn hard.

I'm really digging using the color palettes! I want to use them more often and hopefully I'll find the colors I'm most comfortable playing with. I've got a lot of time between now and Interventioncon, so it leaves me with plenty of ideas for art pieces. I wanna do something different than most pieces at artist's alleys, so I'll try out poses, colors, whatever I can to stand out. I've got a few ideas for pieces - I'm planning about 6-8 - and once I have them drawn I'll post them up, naturally.

I'm so excited for this year!

Look What I Drew! 03/01/2015

First day of the Art Jam is complete. Unite the Seven!

I could not think of a background for this picture! Had to look up some reference photos of the sea to get an idea and I'm glad with the end result. I also used a color palette so I didn't have to bother with the right colors for skin and hair and all that. I plan on using color palettes for each piece this art jam.

In other news, my application to sell my art at Interventioncon was accepted! I'm going to my first convention as a professional artist!

I am very, very excited.

I'm going to plan out a few pieces - some are already sketched out - and get to work right away. It feels good to have purpose with my art...for way too long I wondered what I was doing and where I was going with drawing, and now it feels like it's all coming together. Things really can only go up from here, guys.

If you guys have any ideas for pieces, let me know!

March Art Jam is MY Art Jam!

A little preview of what's to come~
Sorry for the lack of updates, y'all: the art muses were not giving me anything for some time. I do have another piece but I'll upload that tomorrow - it's separate from the art jam.

As mentioned, the art jam happens this sunday. The link is here so feel free to check out all of the other artists and their work. The list is as follows:

  • Day 1: Aquaman (So you knew I was doing Jason Momoa's badass rendition)
  • Day 2:  Any of Monty Oum's characters. If you don't know him. he was one of the animators at Rooster Teeth who died suddenly this year. He's known for Red vs. Blue and RWBY
  • Day 3: La Muerta from The Book of Life. Have you seen her design? It's seriously awesome. Google her.
  • Day 4: Marceline the Vampire Queen
  •  Day 5:  Any Naruto character. Now, I've done Naruto and Sasuke to death, so I promise I'll draw someone else. As a matter of fact, I'll let you guys decide!
  •  Day 6: Macho Man Randy Savage. Ooh YEAAAAH! I already know what I'm gonna do for this one XD
  •  Day 7: Yourself as  Katamari Damacy character. I have an old drawing I'm going to update just for this
There you have it! I'm going to do my best to have previews like the one above, so keep an eye out and share on your pages!

Look What I Drew! 01/01/2015

1 Day art jam: Any Fantastic Four member. I chose Human Torch.

Well, this is the first drawing of the new year! It could use more attention but I'm working with a head cold so I wanted to try something cool and be done with it.

I've got some ideas for pieces: Real simple, but very cool. Can't wait to get started!

Look What I Drew! 09/02/2014

I can't believe I forgot to post this.

It was day 6 of the Art Jam: bounty hunters. I knew I wanted to do an anime character so I decided to go with Yoko from Gurren Lagann. The original piece was terrible: a rushed traditional piece where the proportions and body type were way off. I wanted to redo it and this is the final result which I'm quite happy with.

I've been drawing somewhat recently, but definitely not how I should be. I think I burned out and the stress of trying to finish Queen's Quartz made me shy away from it. I know it's not an acceptable reason to stop working, especially since that would never fly professionaly, but it's what happened and I'm working through it.

In the meantime I've been working on sketches here and there, trying to get back into the groove. I missed my deadline for QQ but I'll still be working on it. I at least owe everyone that much.

Look What I Drew! 08/19/2014

Day 7 of the Art Jam: April O'Neil from TMNT. Just the inks for now; I may color it in soon.

Queen's Quartz is moving along nicely, but still slow for my tastes. I've got 3 rough pages finished as of today...I should be using my tablet to do more of them. I'm gonna. I don't even know why I brought it up.

I'll be going to NY Comic Con on Thursday only, so if anyone is heading there lemme know!

Look What I Drew! 08/07/2014

Art Jam, Day 4: Skeletor (Masters of the Universe)

This was one pretty fun. Only 2 more left and that's the end of the Art Jam for August!

Uhhhhh let's see...I worked on a new page for Queen's Quartz. I'll post up a preview soon, but I gotta get my work drive up if I wanna be at least halfway finished. I also tried using a different anatomy method: the bean. I've seen it used before but I never really liked it because I wasn't sure how to define the body from it, but I decided to really study this video by the artist Stan Prokopenko and it clicked. It's a very good method especially when you're working different angles of the body. I incorporated it with the latest page and I can already see a difference in anatomy.

What methods do you other artists use? Lemme know in the comments!

Look What I Drew! 08/06/2014

Art Jam, Day 4: Sawyer from LOST.

I didn't care much for this subject. I'd much rather stick with cartoons/movies/comics, but tv shows? Eh. It always runs the risk of being something you never watched, or you hated. This fell right into that category. I never watched Lost, never cared to, and honestly it took some effort to get through this one.

The next day'll be better. Truth be told, I'm a day behind, but I'll get to it tomorrow...I'm so tired.

Anybody got a show they don't care about, and why?

Look What I Drew! 08/02/2014

Art Jam, Day 2: Usagi Yojimbo. I had the action figure of him when I was a kid and the Ninja Turtle toys were all the rage.

I have a commission due, more art jam subjects, and Queen's Quartz, so my schedule is full this week. Feels pretty good to be an artist right now!

Look What I Drew! 07/28/2014

Preview of the Art Jam! The first subject is a character from Galaxy of the Guardians, so I chose Star Lord when I'm sure everyone else would do Rocket Raccoon. I like RR, but you can't deny Star Lord's helmet is badass.

The subjects will be coming through daily, though I'll more than likely update them the day of. I now I've neglected this blog for a couple of days but that'll change so bear with me!

Also, some fanboy against the new Batgirl design sent me his unprovoked opinion and I'm sitting here wondering why people feel the need to do that. I didn't ask for his opinion and honestly couldn't care less about it. I didn't open up a forum to speak about it: I on'y uploaded the drawing to show people. I'm all for discussing subjects, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to give it to me when I never wanted it? You're a dick, in my opinion, and this is the problem with comic fans: everyone thinks their opinion needs to be heard and don't care who gets to hear it. It's a problem with the internet, really, but it's been going on with comic fan for the longest time.

People, you read comics. They can change your world. your views, inspire you and make you feel things for characters who don't even exist, but if you decide to argue with other fans who appreciate changes when they had no intention to then you're not being a proper fan. Get your head out of your asses.
