Look What I Drew! 07/31/2014

Fina doesn't like to be touched, or laughed at. You'll understand why soon.

So here's the subjects for the Art Jam:
day 1_Guardians of the Galaxy
day 2_Usagi Yojimbo
day 3_Don Bluth's Dragon's Lair or Space Ace
day 4_LOST
day 5_Masters of The Universe
day 6_Bounty Hunters
day 7_April O'neil

Day 1 is already done and I've got the idea for Yojimbo in my head. Hopefully it'll transfer well to paper - er, screen - but I can't wait to show you guys!

Any ideas for another art jam? Leave comments and lemme know wussuuuup...maybe I'll include them when it's my turn to choose!

Look What I Drew! 07/28/2014

Another Queen's Quartz update! This time, it's the main character Serafina. Isn't she cute?

So, comic's coming along nicely and all that. I've got a good few days to work on it this week, so with any luck I can be about halfway through with the chapter by next week. Other than that, I have the Art Jam and that's about it!

Comic Con ended and there was some juicy tidbits going on. Mad Max: Fury Road was probably the biggest thing for me, especially since I couldn't care less about Batman V. Superman and I know Avengers is gonna be awesome. Anyway, Mad Max looks incredible! It's gonna be intense. and I'm glad there was no obvious CG or wires or anything like that: just straight up action and stunts...I'm so excited.

I'm waiting for the new Interstellar trailer; I heard it blew everyone away.

Look What I Drew! 07/28/2014

Preview of the Art Jam! The first subject is a character from Galaxy of the Guardians, so I chose Star Lord when I'm sure everyone else would do Rocket Raccoon. I like RR, but you can't deny Star Lord's helmet is badass.

The subjects will be coming through daily, though I'll more than likely update them the day of. I now I've neglected this blog for a couple of days but that'll change so bear with me!

Also, some fanboy against the new Batgirl design sent me his unprovoked opinion and I'm sitting here wondering why people feel the need to do that. I didn't ask for his opinion and honestly couldn't care less about it. I didn't open up a forum to speak about it: I on'y uploaded the drawing to show people. I'm all for discussing subjects, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to give it to me when I never wanted it? You're a dick, in my opinion, and this is the problem with comic fans: everyone thinks their opinion needs to be heard and don't care who gets to hear it. It's a problem with the internet, really, but it's been going on with comic fan for the longest time.

People, you read comics. They can change your world. your views, inspire you and make you feel things for characters who don't even exist, but if you decide to argue with other fans who appreciate changes when they had no intention to then you're not being a proper fan. Get your head out of your asses.

Look What I Drew! 07/23/2014

Another preview for Queen's Quartz! I'm about finished with a very awesome splash page, and I would've posted it but I really want it to be a surprise for you all. I'm very proud of it.

Also, Happy Batman Day! I managed to get my butt to the nearest comic shops and picked up Death of the Family, which was amazing. A very gripping story, and there's a twist in it near the end that had my eyes wide in shock. All in all, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have been killing it on their Batman run.

Oh, and there's an art jam coming up so expect an influx of drawings soon. I'm thinking of going monochromatic with the subjects this time around...

Look What I Drew! 07/16/2014

The new Thor! I'm excited for the change: I've already read the gripes of fanboys and honestly, I'm so tired of them. We've already Beta Ray Bill and Throg, a friggin' frog, but a woman being the God of Thunder is suddenly, what, a mockery? Unacceptable?

I'm just so done with it.

It's one more step to equality, and regardless of whether male fans like it or not, it's gonna happen, and I for one am happy about that. On a side note: I love that she's not oversexualized. She looks badass, like Thor would and should be.

October can't come soon enough!

Look What I Drew! 07/14/2014

Doing some quickie sketch requests on Google+!

Nothing much going on, lately. Still working on Queen's Quartz, and I've been going to actual work. I hate work. I wanna get paid to draw already.

Look What I Drew! 07/11/2014

That new Batgirl costume is so cool, I just had to draw it.

Queen's Quartz is coming along, everyone! I've got 5 pages already drawn and about 4 thumbnail sketches ready to go. It's gotta be the best my art has ever been, you guys...I'm pretty proud right now.

I'm thinking of uploading the first five pages, but I might just wait until I have ten so there's more to read. We'll see what happens, but for now I'll keep posting previews of pages and continue working.

Speaking of work, I have to get up really early tomorrow and I'm not excited about that. I really gotta find a way to make money by drawing.

Look What I Drew!

A drawing I did for Jason Momoa, the badass actor who played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones. There was a screening in New York for his new film, Road to Paloma...

...Oh, and I gave it to him. He said it was fucking awesome and that made my entire year.

Look What I Drew! 07/04/2014

A preview of a new page from Queen's Quartz!

I hope everyone had a good Independence Day. I spent mine at work, which wasn't too bad, but I've been used to having this day off and going to a family bbq so this was an unwanted change. I could've had a beer and a hamburger. damnit.

Anyhoo, my birthday's in two days and I plan on partying hard for the 3-0. I mean, let's face it: it's all downhill from here.

Look What I Drew! 07/01/2014

The first page of Queen's Quartz is up!

Okay, this was actually done a couple of days ago but I was having issues uploading on my phone so it took me a bit to get it on here. I have 3 pages set up and the second one is almost finished (tones are a pain in the ass), but it's all coming together very nicely! I need to get some more thumbnails done and I can definitely do 2 rough pages a day if I keep this pace going.

In other news, I saw Transformers: Age of Extinction. It was...craziness. I knew going into it that the story would be terrible - it is a Michael Bay film, after all - but damned if it didn't keep me entertained. Mark Wahlberg was actually pretty decent in this: funny, held his own in the action scenes but they didn't make him to be this super badass or anything. The only area that took me out of the movie was that he was way too jacked for an inventor, otherwise I was all in.

If you loved the first 3, you'll love this one. If not...it's a movie about giant robots: quit taking it seriously.

I'm going to end this post with a rant: The other day a fellow artist complained that getting comments/feedback such as "Your art looks like (insert another artist here)!" wasn't good because it made them feel that their art wasn't original.

I'm sorry, but here's where I take slight offense: nobody's art is original. Unique, sure, but every artist borrows from another so you'll never be truly original. To think that you are seems arrogant, personally. I understand that an artist has to feel that they're doing something no one's ever seen, and that can happen in how you approach the subject. You can tell the same story from a different perspective, you know?

In any case. it irked me to read this, then have people agree with the notion. I know that I've borrowed from others and made something that makes my style unique, and I feel that should be encouraged more than telling others they're special snowflakes.
